Implements a strategic approach to fundraising that includes: soliciting resources from philanthropic sources (including individuals, foundations, and corporations) as well as implementing an annual appeal, sponsor and donor relations, fundraising events, marketing and outreach opportunities. This is a permanent 35-hour a week position and will report to the Executive Director. Ability to travel in-state, occasional evening and weekend events. Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Donations and Grants

  1. Identify, foster and maintain relationships with corporate, community and individual prospects for the organization’s fundraising priorities
  2. Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database
  3. Solicit, prepare, and submit appropriate grant applications
  4. Plan and implement the annual appeal fundraising campaign
  5. Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization
  6. Maintain complete records; prepare and submit timely reporting

Annual Major Fundraising and Outreach Events

  1. Develop timeline of activities for Events
    1. Coordinate, direct and support the activities of the volunteer Event Committee
    2. Coordinate Kick-Off Event for volunteers/team captains/other supporters
    3. Recruit, engage, and support volunteers/team captains/fundraisers
    4. Coordinate Event day activities, entertainment, attractions, speakers and logistics
    5. Coordinate adequate volunteers for smooth Event operation and logistics
    6. Recruit sponsors, in-kind donations, and conduct media outreach
  2. Reporting: Maintain complete records and reports relating to the Event including: teams, sponsors, exhibitors, fundraisers, impact, registration, and financials
  3. Marketing and Public Relations
    1. Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials (electronic and paper) for development efforts
    2. Coordinate post Event volunteer recognition

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that fundraising goals are achieved
  2. Participate in the implementation and monitoring of the development budget; ensure that events/activities are operated within established budgetary guidelines
  3. Coordinate and support other fundraising and outreach events including events by Affiliates and presence in community at exhibits
  4. Provide training and oversight to Board members so they can fulfill their responsibilities for fundraising and outreach
  5. Maintain facebook and website as it relates to development activities

Knowledge/Experience Required:

  1. The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS and/or 2 to 4 years of related experience in organizing and managing successful major fundraising and public awareness events
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of successful fundraising practices and principles
  3. Effective event management skills
  4. Proficiency in MS Office, Google Office products, and database systems required
  5. Experience and/or aptitude for outreach to foundations, corporations and individuals for grants and contributions
  6. Experience with grant writing or willingness to learn
  7. Strong public speaking, interpersonal communication and public relations, organizational skills and experience with volunteers, committees and community leaders are essential
  8. Ability to work independently as well as on a team with a high regard for accountability and outcomes
  9. Ability to manage multiple long-term priorities

Work Environment:

  • Ability to drive—must have own vehicle and hold valid operator’s license.
  • Ability to travel in-state (mileage reimbursed).
  • Available for occasional evenings and weekends (meetings and events).
