NAMI Vermont is pleased to announce that a new Family Support Group will begin on Wednesday, June 18th in St. Johnsbury at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital Library at 5:30 p.m. Starting in July, meetings will be offered on the 4th Wednesday of every month.

NAMI Family Support Group meetings are a free, monthly 90-minute support group of family and friends of individuals living with a mental illness where they can talk frankly about their challenges and help one another through their learned wisdom and coping strategies. Participants are encouraged to share actively in the work of the group. The support group meetings offer a safe and confidential place to give family members and friends the support they need.  With their shared experiences, family members can better understand and support their loved ones living with mental illness while maintaining their own well-being. All meetings are facilitated by trained NAMI family members.

“We are very pleased to start up a new Family Support Group in St. Johnsbury,” said Laurie Emerson, Program Director of NAMI Vermont. “For the past few years, we’ve had a team of volunteer facilitators leading a Connection Recovery Support Group that provides support to individuals who are living with a mental health condition. We are very excited to expand our program offerings in the Northeast Kingdom to offer support to family and friends. NAMI Vermont relies on the dedication and commitment of our volunteers who give so generously of their time to help individuals and families who need resources and support.”
