July is Minority Mental Health Month

you are not aloneAs the consequences of racial injustice continue to unfold, we need to understand how culture, race and background impact people’s mental health. Mental health conditions do not discriminate based on race, color, gender or identity. However, our background and identity can make access to mental health treatment more difficult.

Facing racial discrimination also can significantly worsen symptoms. And in the wake of both the pandemic and racial violence, there is a potential for an increase in the number of people impacted by mental health challenges.

No one should feel alone without the support and help they need.

July is Minority Mental Health Month and NAMI’s goal this month is to raise awareness about mental health in underrepresented communities. To read more about NAMI’s initiative, please visit: https://bit.ly/3dViHPb
