NAMI Vermont is Hiring – Communications Coordinator

Communications Coordinator (part-time 20 hours per week): The Communications Coordinator works with the staff at NAMI Vermont including the Program Director, Development Director and Executive Director to develop and implement communication strategies with communities throughout Vermont. The Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are in marketing and communications in an effort to promote positive public image among NAMI Vermont’s various customers. This position will also collaborate with others in the organization to achieve brand consistency, coordination of messages, and the highest standards for external communication. This position is responsible for coordinating organization-wide design, message, and content generation, including electronic and print communications.

Responsibilities:

Print Materials

  • Work with staff to create, produce, and disseminate printed publications for education, development, and administration purposes (such as flyers, brochures, bi-annual newsletter, annual report, and exhibition and event postcards)
  • Support the development and execution of materials for major organizational initiatives
  • Update the NAMI Vermont Resource Guidebook on an annual basis

Electronic/Media

  • Collaboratively manage web-content, keeping website up-to-date
  • Work with external technology vendor and staff to ensure improvement of website as needed
  • Manage and implement e-communications for our members and volunteers through Constant Contact database
  • Manage social media such as Facebook and Twitter

Media Relations

  • Develop media relations for selected events or activities
  • Secure media placement for events as needed
  • Create ads, submit calendar of events, write and distribute press releases

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, English/journalism, or a related communications field or 1-2 years of marketing, communications, media or public relations experience
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office operating systems; experience managing websites and social media; design and/or publishing experience beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple individuals and manage several projects at once
