Want to make a positive change in mental health services? Become an advocate. Grassroots advocacy is simple – you don’t have to know about policies or politics. It’s about using your voice to influence policy makers and make a difference. Turn your passion and your lived experience into a positive voice for mental health with the NAMI Smarts for Advocacy grassroots advocacy training.

Sunday, December 5th – 1:00 p.m.  via zoom. REGISTER Online

NAMI Smarts for Advocacy will enhance your advocacy skills and help you shape a powerful and personal story that will move policy makers.

The NAMI Smarts Difference: NAMI Smarts for Advocacy engages you in hands-on learning to build and strengthen skills. Whether you are new to advocacy or have years of experience you will leave the training with messages, step-by-step tools and the practice you need to feel informed, confident and ready to make a difference.

Who Should Attend: Individuals, groups, or advocates who are attending Mental Health Advocacy Day on January 31, 2022 and/or anyone who wants to enhance their advocacy skills to develop a powerful and personal story that will move policy makers.

This training will give you the strategies to build knowledge, confidence, and competence in writing and delivering short and compelling personal stories that have an “ask”.

Module 1: Telling Your Story:
Real stories are the most potent motivator for legislators. Telling Your Story guides you through writing and delivering a concise and compelling version of your story that will serve as the springboard for your advocacy.
