About This Program
Family Voices is an interactive presentation that challenges stereotypes and builds empathy by considering the impact mental health conditions have not just on the individual living with the illness, but also on their loved ones.
Two trained presenters with lived experience as family members of individuals living with a mental health condition talk openly about their experiences. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions to learn more about how the presenters and their loved ones have coped with the conditions affecting their families and how to live well in spite of them.
This 60-90-minute presentation is offered free of charge and is appropriate for diverse audiences, including family members, friends, individuals living with mental health conditions, mental health professionals, students, and the general public. Family Voices works well as a standalone presentation, or it can be paired with In Our Own Voice to provide insight from individuals living with mental health conditions as well as from family members.
Upcoming Training:
Want to share your mental health story as a family member? Join us on June 11, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM via Zoom, for an online training session. Participants will have a chance to share their personal stories as family members of an individual living with a mental health condition, aiming to raise awareness and combat the stigma surrounding mental health. Please prepare your story in advance, and be ready to share it on the day of the training. Guidelines will be provided.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule a Family Voices presentation, please contact our Program Coordinator at [email protected].
