Basics

A free, 6-session educational program for families and caregivers with a child experiencing mental health challenges.

About This Program

NAMI Basics is a six-week course designed to empower parents and caregivers of youths aged 22 and under with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to navigate the challenges of supporting a young person with a mental health condition. In order to maximize accessibility to this program, we are offering it virtually via Zoom.

Basics is led by two trained NAMI Vermont volunteers who have lived experience supporting a young person with a mental health condition. The course features workshops, presentations, discussions, and interactive elements, allowing participants to forge connections with others in the class and develop essential skills. Participants will also receive a manual providing valuable insights and evidence-based practices for navigating schools and the healthcare system while advocating for a child living with mental health challenges. Classes will be scheduled soon! The plan is for each NAMI Basics class to meet virtually once a week for 6 weeks, for 2.5 hours in the evening.
