Support Group Facilitator Training – May 2023

NAMI Vermont is offering in-person training on May 6 & 7, 2023, to become a NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group facilitator. The session will take place over the course of two full days. After you register, we will provide details about the timing and location of the training sessions.

NAMI Support Groups provide a safe space to share one’s experiences with people who can relate and empathize, including the facilitators. If you have not already done so, please attend a meeting for the type of support group that applies to you before signing up for training.

Connection Recovery Support Groups (or Connection Support Groups) are for peers who are in recovery with a mental illness. If you have a mental illness, are in a stable place in your recovery, and have attended a Connection Support Group before, you may be a good fit to become a facilitator.

This is a volunteer role. You would be expected to facilitate meetings on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis, depending on the current need. Another trained volunteer will help co-facilitate the meetings. Before signing up for training, please consider whether or not you can make this commitment.
