Upcoming Mental Illness and Recovery Workshops

NAMI Vermont’s own educational offering, Mental Illness and Recovery, has upcoming workshops in Bennington, Rutland and St. Albans in the next two weeks. All workshops take place on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free opportunity is open to peers, family members, friends and any community members interested in learning more about mental illness.

Here’ a preview of what you will learn when you attend one of these workshops:

  • Basic facts about the incidence of mental illness worldwide
  • How mental health professionals diagnose mental illness
  • The power of lack of insight and stigma to prevent people from getting the help they need
  • Practical advice from NAMI families about how to prevent a crisis
  • Services available in Vermont, including evidenced based practices for treating illnesses, wellness management and recovery, medication management, and supported employment.
